Re: B.A.R.F. 101

Thanks for the reply, Fran! Well, as of right now Gigi's diet consists of only chicken. Necks, backs, legs, organs (in moderation), and breast meat. I don't grind anything, and wings kind of scare me a bit. Her poop is on the dry side (compared to a kibble diet), a lot smaller in total volume, and m...

Re: Things to avoid feeding your dog!

Vet told me to mix a raw egg in with her food (sooks was underweight), and I put milk in with it too (like doggy cerial) course she does have gas so perhaps I should stop that. So apple sauce is good? I freeze it and give her sauce cubes (loves it!) how about yogurt? Apple sauce? It would depend. I...

Re: B.A.R.F. 101

From what I have read and understand, please feel free to correct me as I may have overlooked something, the reason is that the kibble takes substantially longer to digest than raw. So feeding kibble then raw can lead to digestive issues as the raw is already "done" and ready to "hea...

Re: B.A.R.F. 101

I don't think Valerian root was the "little herbal relaxant" that was being referred to. lol Jack Jack, I was referring to appropriate herbs, not Pot. There are many herbal relaxers available to dog owners with behavioral issues. Always contact a well trained holistic Vet before using the...

Sorry to have to be the bearer of bad news, Ian...
Clearly, Trouble is a drinker.
So I will have to insist that she be immediately be surrendered to me for a very thorough 10 to 12 year detox.

Re: Cheapest grain free foods

Not that I am an expert by ANY means as I am still formulating it, but I am about to go raw for Gigi. Doing a quick cost analysis on it so far (avoiding extremely expensive items such as bison, pheasant, etc) has yielded me a cost savings of more that 60% off the cost of feeding her kibble (Chicken ...

Re: B.A.R.F. 101

Haha well in actual caloric and fat intake, my dogs are eating significantly more then they were on commercial dog food and yet they look more lean and muscular then ever. Stella stays around the 52-55lb range and eats, on average, roughly 1000 calories a day and loads of high fat, high cholesterol...

Re: B.A.R.F. 101

Fantastic thread! I want to put Gigi on a raw diet, and as soon as these 78 pages stop playing Jai Alai in my head I'll be able to sit down and formulate a menu plan. Maybe... :huh?: I'm still wrapping my head around the idea of feeding her such a little amount compared to what she eats on commercia...

Hello from Massachusetts

:hi Hi all, Life long "dangerous" dog owner, first time APBT owner (Dobies were my addiction). Lots of my friends have had Pits over the years, and they were all big mooshes. The dogs, not my friends. Only danger poses by their dogs were the bruises on my shins from their wagging tails. I'...
