Re: Dog not eating, farting

Sounds like you have a picky eater. I would try a dog food a littler higher in quality than Kirkland. You can get some good stuff that's not super pricey at Tractor Supply, or you can get really pricey with the designer brands. The gas could be likely be a result of his gobbling up of human food, es...

Hot Spot or Not?

About a week ago a very angry looking spot about the size of a dime cropped up on Kelise's back paw. It wasn't raised at all, didn't appear to be very painful, and wasn't oozing any pus. It was bleeding though and she was licking it every now and then. Here it is day 1: http://i1030.photobucket.com/...

Re: Who's used Proin?

Thanks for all the great advice everyone. My little girl is as sensitive as a porcelain doll. She was ok with the Proin for about a month before ahe starting getting incredibly ill. This could have been from the pill pockets, she's very grain and treat sensitive, but I tried the Proin alone for a fe...

Re: Who's used Proin?

You could try DES first, it works for some dogs. Might be worth a try. And it's significantly cheaper, at least here. We always try DES before propalin with female incontinence. Buddy was on it, then we managed to eventually wean her off, but she ended up back on it at the end. Thanks. My vet never...

Re: Head collars

I had given up on the idea that my red dog, Dante, would ever be able to enjoy a walk together. His anxiety over every stimuli made walking very miserable experience for both of us. I decided to try the Halti as a last resort. I spent about a month getting him used to wearing in the house and on sho...

Can anyone give their opinions about the following two dog foods: Diamond® Naturals™ Chicken & Rice Formula for Adult Dogs: http://www.tractorsupply.com/en/store/diamondreg;-naturalstrade;-chicken--rice-formula-for-adult-dogs-40-lb-bag?cm_mmc=feed-_-Animals_and_Pet%20Supplies_Pet%20Supplies_Dog...

Re: Who's used Proin?

It really does help her, the only thing that bothers me is the horrible taste of the syrup, it must be quite nasty judging by my dog's reaction to it. I'd love it if we couold get it in the form of chewable tablets, but you can only get the syrup here, it's actually the only drug for incontinence a...

Re: Who's used Proin?

Thanks, that makes me feel a lot better, especially since your dog was only 3 when she started taking them too. The vet told me they don't usually see spay incontinence in dogs that young. Kelise started them a few weeks ago. The nighttime incontinence has actually already cleared up quite a bit, bu...

Who's used Proin?

Anyone have any experience treating incontinence with Proin? My 3 year old baby girl had been wetting her bed for a few weeks during the night/while sleeping before I finally took her in to the vet. $1100 worth of vet visits and clean urine tests later, the vet said she has spay incontinence and pre...

Re: Dealing with Rescues on Adopting

True! This goes both ways, and applies to shelters too! Make sure you're getting all the facts about the dog in question. Ask for vet history reports, and that they go over them with you first. When I adopted my red nose boy, my boy friend and I were interviewed in depth before being approved. Howev...

Re: HOW TO INTRODUCE A NEW DOG TO A RESIDENT DOG

Excellent post! Try also not to rush anything, no matter how good it seems to be going! Sometimes it's very tempting to fast-forward a few steps if the intro seems like a love connection from the beginning. Remember, 2 weeks of 10 minute, closely supervised playtime that ends on a positive note is a...

Re: OFFICIAL ear cropping/tail docking debate thread

I'll do what I want with my dog . Given that this is the common mantra of those who choose to fight dogs, chain them, abuse and neglect them, these are probably not the best choice of words to use in a Pit Bull forum. My 3 pit bulls are my 3 children, and while I don't necessarily hate the look of ...

Re: Introduction from VA

We're in Harrisonburg, a smallish city outside of Charlottesville and about 2 hours out of Richmond. It's a pretty dog and Pit friendly neighborhood. We have some fantastic rescues that do great pit rehabs, and even the local shelters and super Pit Friendly. Generally, they'll give the dogs a place ...

Introduction from VA

Hey everyone, my name is Chelsea, and my boyfriend and I are the proud parents of 3 beautiful Pit Bulls Mixes: Niabi (white with brindle eye patches), Kelise (blue with white markigs), and our newest pup, Dante (cute little red nose with a white belly). I love my babies more than almost anything, an...
