Re: Hello - Help with Pharaoh Pit Mix

Honestly, it's tough to say. Most people have a hard time correctly identifying what a "pit bull" is anyway. And when mixed with other breeds it's almost impossible to say for sure. http://www.pbrc.net/poppysplace/games/AdultFindabull/findpitbull_v4.html However, rental properties with ban...

Re: Negative Reinforcement

I'm not a trainer so I'm not 100% sure about the differences between NR and PP, etc. So correct me if I'm wrong and my example is way off the mark. I'm not sure if this fits, I think it could go either way? My Parson Russel mix Ziggy used to be TERRIBLE about barking for attention. True to terrier f...

Re: Dogs that bite - a debate about training or lack of

I don't know for sure, but I'm going to assume that 'respect' means allowing people to do whatever they want to him (the dog). They can't expect a dog to allow absolutely everything. Every animal, no matter how docile, has limits. And a dog allowing you to pester it doesn't mean it "respects&q...

Re: Dogs that bite - a debate about training or lack of

I agree. It sounds like she just doesn't want the dog anymore. :dunno: But I'm wondering, how old was the child that was bitten? Was the 16 yr old actually supervising at the time or just somewhere in the house not watching? If the 16 year old is "too soft to control him" that sounds like ...

Re: Favorite winter doggie clothes?

Do dogs actually need winter clothes? I have never thought about it. Or is it more for an area were it gets really cold in winter? Pit Bulls tend to get cold since they have such short fur and low body fat. My boy gets the shivers as soon as outdoor temps fall below 60. But my little dogs typically...
