Re: leash on at all times..bad idea?

Just be mindful that she isn't ALWAYS with you. Make sure she knows that it's okay to be alone sometimes, even when you're home. Is she crate-trained, or in the process of being crate-trained? I just see separation anxiety popping up a lot these days and it's so preventable.

Nancy, from what I understand this type of cooling jacket works better than the ones you wet down, especially if it's humid outside: http://www.chillybuddy.com/index/cooling.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Sending tons of good thoughts to Tiva - I think it sounds like she's not q...

The body language of that poor dog just breaks my heart.

Re: No-Pull harnesses

My group recommends/sells the Freedom Harnesses. They don't hinder shoulder movement like some of the others do, and once adjusted they stay in place. They're truly wonderful and their customer service is outstanding.

Re: My dog is peeing on my couch

Often inappropriate urination can be a sign of a urinary tract infection. Might be worth taking a urine sample in to the vet.

Re: Can someone help explain this behavior?

She is. Inara was a basket case around other dogs so we took the Relax class. Best thing we could have ever done. Thanks to Ginger, we can now compete in Rally and Obedience around other dogs. Have to maintain our distance, but as long as they stay out of reach, she'll maintain her manners.

I refer to Ginger Alpine of Fortunate Fido (in Columbia Station) as my goddess of a dog trainer. She's amazing.

Re: Cash's Anxiety...

Inara was on prozac for 9 months and I wish I'd started it sooner. Too often I feel we try to avoid medications, when in fact, they can be the most humane thing to do. It can't be fun to be an anxious dog. If a cheap, small pill once a day for as long as needed can make a difference, I think it's ou...

Re: Certified Veterinary Behavioralist?

We have all kinds of dogs in our walking groups - most are pretty sociable with both dogs and people, but there are some, like my girl, that is not dog friendly but loves people, and there are a couple others that are okay with dogs but frightened of people. Everybody does well once we're moving. :-)

Heading down to PosiDog? I love them down there. :-)

I own a group for pit bull owners, Pit Bull Zen. We have a very active Facebook group (it's closed but we approve requests to join quickly) - look us up!

Re: CGC vs CLASS?

Inara has her CGC and all three levels of CLASS (with honors in all three!). I really liked the CLASS stuff as it seemed more pertinent to real-life situations. It was also much friendlier for dog-reactive dogs.

AddieNMel, are you going to Dr. Feltes? I really wanted to do chicken camp there but couldn't swing the price. :)

That amendment was included, and the Governor signed the bill this morning! Statewide BSL in Ohio will be a thing of the past in 90 days. :nana:
