Re: How to get puppies to sleep?
are you making sure to keep them on a schedule? feeding at x time, then out to pee, then play time for x period of time, then downtime, them pee again, then bedtime and lights out, no exciting interaction for the rest of the night? i have raised a bunch of pups, and they do settle into routines, but...

Re: Vaccination protocol
i am extremely disappointed in how my vet responded to me about this. extremely. my vet, who owns the clinic, did nit respond to me at all. they had a tech call me, and she first told me that our county requires annual, not 3-year, by law. she said the laws are different here than in other counties....

Re: Vaccination protocol
Thanks for the info, you guys. I am on an email basis with the vet who owns the practice, and I dropped him a line asking him what his thoughts are on 1 year vs. 3 year ... I am hoping that he tells me that there was an error or that they had a reason to suggest annual. I have been going to this vet...

Vaccination protocol
Hey you guys ... what is the common vaccination protocol these days? For a good, long time I was doing three-year vaccines on all of my dogs past their first birthday ... then i got a reminder from my vet today that my dogs, who got all of their shots including rabies last year, were due for shots a...

Re: Toy destruction
my old lady dog, reba, kept toys for months, then would sometimes randomly decide their time was up and she would gut them. doc tried to swallow stuffed toys whole. ever since tucker was a baby, he enthusiastically destroyed toys. button selects ones that he likes, and he will keep them for ages. we...

Re: Poor little brown dog
meds are definitely making him comfy. thank goodness. he is a little sleepy/zonked when he first takes them but really really wants to play after he takes a nap. so now the hard part is keeping him quiet. he is a little bit stir crazy.

Poor little brown dog
We had a weird thing with Button recently: Rob got home from work and he was OK for a bit, then started acting weird, then started screeching whenever he touched his right elbow to the ground. I brought him to the vet and they did an ortho exam and found (oddly) that he wasn't presenting any signs o...

Discussion topic: The use of training aids
at this point in my life, i think prong collars are completely unnecessary and i am almost shocked at myself that i ever relied on them as a tool at all. if anything, they hampered my ability to teach a dog. yeah, they "worked," but i never learned anything and i can't think of a single th...

Re: Looking for some tips
gosh, so she has been in a shelter for the majority of her life. poor girl is lucky you got her out. i am sure she has really been lacking in direction and socialization all that time. hopefully consistent training and lots of patience will help her out. i had a dog that i got as an adult, who had b...

Re: Looking for some tips
she sounds like she might need more than just petsmart obedience classes. you might need to find a food trainer in your area who can help you work on problems at your home. especially to assess what she is thinking when people come to visit.
how old is she? and where are you located?
