Re: anyone rollerblade with their pitty?

I did it once with Lucy and I ended up tripping over a stick and falling over Lucy and spraining my wrist!I'm sure it was a sight to see, the two of us tumbling into the grass!! I will never do that again!! I stick to the bike! Then again I am a clutz and I should have considered that in the first p...

Re: Rex went to the vet on Tuesday

If you think its a food allergy, sit down with the labels of everything he has ever eaten. Then go through and find the common ingredient. A friend of mine used this to figure out her dog had a wheat allergy. The dog would eat say a milk bone, or some bread off her burger then bam, nasty oozing hot ...

Re: Exercise for a Pup

The endurance trial (Sch. AD) is a 12.7 mile run next to you on your bike. You have to keep a pace of like 7-8 MPH. They do have breaks every so many miles, but it's still tough! It is a great test of conditioning. I'm pretty sure the rules are on the Sch. USA website.

Re: Teeth cracking?!?!

One of Vi's front teeth came in cracked. We think she broke it somehow before it totally grew in. Haven't had a prob yet, I just keep it clean. Is there something hard Kaida is chewing on? That will cause the teeth to wear or break/crack. The only way to tell if it is really a crack will be during t...

Re: Exercise for a Pup

It's alot of fun! I don't do the bite work portion with Vi, we just do the obed, tracking, and endurance, but I plan on it in the future with a pup. The (schutzhund)training seems a lot "harder" than it is, but my girl isn't a "soft" dog so the style suits her well. It is hard to...

Re: Exercise for a Pup

I started with a Schutzhund trainer in my area and told him I only wanted to do the tracking portion. He didn't mind, after all I was still paying him! lol Also you could try and contact your local police dept, they may be able to lead you to a search and rescue team that trains in your area. Or eve...

Re: Exercise for a Pup

Tracking is fun and low impact if you want to add to the routine! It's on grass and involves lots of nose/brain work, and is usually trained in short sessions in about 10-15 min a day. All I can suggest is to stay off concrete, and no jumping high. I'm sure there are people that will say otherwise, ...

Re: X Rays, when is a good determination age?

Also have his ACL checked, it could have been torn by overcompensating for the other prev. injured leg. 10 months is a good age for preliminary hip x-rays. It's not perfect, but you will be able to determine how they may be when the pup gets older. If there is dysplasia it will show even at this ear...
