I know most of you feel that WE should be doing the protecting but sometimes things are even out of our control, and a beastly looking dog would come in handy. Except that your average person when seeing a "beastly" looking pit bull going crazy on a leash is then probably going to assume ...

Socialization/Temperment tests really accurate?

I was wondering because I've seen on TV where they put a fake hand in a dogs food dish to test for food aggression or they'll have a wiggling crying baby doll, or open up an umbrella suddenly. I'm asking because my poor girl would totally fail those tests. She's not food aggresive and I can take any...

I agree! It's tossing them in live and letting them strangle to death that is cruel. I personally think the biology and ecology of snakes is fascinating but I would never keep one as a pet. I prefer pets that love me back. :)

I feed my dog canned and dry Eagle Pack Holistic Select. She looks great and everyone thinks she's a puppy at almost 7 years old. It's a great food. I pay $35 for a 34 lb bag and about $1.19 for a can. She's 60 lbs and gets 2 C and 1/2 can a day. She is at her perfect weight for her body structure.

Yes, pigs are actually more intelligent than dogs. What does that have to do with my opposition to the touture and cruelty that is live feeding? I have no problem with a humanely killed animal being used for food. It's the macho, get my balls vicariously through watching my dog tear up a live animal...

They tend to really like the cheap nasty crap foods better than the good kibble lol Ket Mine too! She loves crap-in-a-bag AKA kibbles n bits, which my friend feeds to her dogs. She gets pieces of it as treats at my friends house. She's on Eagle Pack Holistic Select and is doing great on it but I ha...

OK, I know this thread is old but as I'm sitting here with my pet rat (one of 5) on my chest and my pit mix at my feet, I'm too horrified not to comment. I think it's cruel and sick to even think about this. Rats are right up there with dogs as far as intelligence, they have very obvious emotions in...

I also have more liberal political leanings but it seems that they are the ones supporting BSL. That's sad. We just went through that here in Louisville, KY. Thanks to people who spoke up it got ammended to be not quite so harsh. Luckily my dog tends to look more like her dad, a shepherd, than her m...

Your baby is adorable. I love the brindle coloring. He looks so much more like a pit bull than my girl. If her mother wasn't a pit I'd wonder about her myself!

Thanks for the welcomes! I really want to add another dog to the family but Lila is very dog aggressive. She is so dominant, I swear she thinks she's a boy dog. She sniffs everything, pees all over the place (not in the house--she's was so easy to housebreak and is great about that), and even hikes ...

Hi from me and Lila!!

Hi, i have a 6 year old 1/2 shep 1/2 pit, Lila. I rescued her as a 6 week old puppy. She is a sweetie and I love her to death. Hoping to get more info on possibly getting another dog and want to get as much info as possible. 8) http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c293/1lila1/lilanme.jpg
