Fat Collars?

Postby JayTye4k » Thu Jan 22, 2009 1:50 pm

Where can I purchase one of these super-wide cotton collars that I see in the majority of the gallery pics?? I cannot find them at Petco. Also- my pup is 14 weeks now. I'd love to be able to purchase him one now to wear for a few months and then purchase him a larger one whenever starts to really fill out.

Try your local feed store as well. If they have horse supplies I find they will tend to have some dog stuff like hog dog collars. But the nicest ones are made by members here on PBF.

At 14 weeks, he has a lot of growing to do. I wouldn't bother getting him a good collar now, he'll outgrow it lickety split, wait until he's over 6 months. He might still outgrow it, but at least he'll have a few months in it.

At his age, you're best off going with Stillwater products because 1. they fit everything from 20 to 60 pounds and 2. they're cheap, even if he does out grow them. lol

My favorite collar suppliers are as follows:

www.stillwaterkennelsupply.com
www.collarmania.com
www.pitbullgear.com
www.obriensk9supply.com

I agree go with Stillwater for now.

I called the guy from Stillwater last night to place an order. He was very pleasant to work with and said he'd ship them out today (even with my customized ID tags). I was very pleased with his processing.

While I haven't purchased anything from him before I've heard nothing but positive things about Stillwater's products and service. So far so good.

Stillwater is great. I just received a walking harness from them. It came promptly and was high quality equipment for the price I paid.

Don't spend a lot of money on a puppy color that he will outgrow.

My girl has a 1 1/2 inch thick, durable, super strong collar that I got at the local Meijer for $5.50! lol

Which ones did you get? I'm having trouble deciding between the show collar and the 3-ply with velcro. I don't think he needs the 4-ply, he's not very big, just 43 lbs.

I have both a show collar and the 3 ply. Khan is 50-55 lbs. I had the show collar first. Since I got the 3 ply I have decide I prefer the 2" width.

I'm actually going to be ordering the 4 ply soon I think. Khan usually wears martingale style, but my hand is numb due to a nerve problem so I have a hard time with getting the martingales on and off him. I have been really happy with the stillwater collars. Good quality and fast shipping!

I got the 1 1/2 inch orange 3 ply. Saint is 55 lbs, and I wasn't sure he needed a 2". I love his collar, but I think the next time I get one it'll be a 2".

I also got the 1" reflective collar for when we go swimming. It's orange plastic-type-stuff with a reflective strip in the center. We haven't got to use it yet because it's still too cold to swim.

They are both very nice collars.
