well, I'm in for an "adventure"

Postby KadillacGrrl » Wed Apr 14, 2010 12:01 am

Turns out you can't show a dog with sutures. I found this out the day after my dog got loaded with sutures. :( So, Kitty is staying home this weekend.

In her place, we have the ever entertaining Betty. Now, keep in mind Betty has never seen a rally sign, course, or been to class. I've worked her at home for oh... 10 minutes. So, I just saddled her up and ran her through some rally paces. I *think* she may just pull a rabbit out of a hat for me this weekend... she really didn't know front, around or finish until 20 minutes ago, and she definitely doesn't know what a pivot is.

But hey, I have like 2 nights to train her! It'll be ok, right? RIGHT? roflmao

Thankfully I can take her to class tomorrow night so she can at least go through the pattern a couple of times... this should be interesting.

I mean look better. He will make YOU feel better as you didn't drive as far OR put in as much training roflmao I will feel like crap if I get beaten by a dog with 20 minutes of training though! roflmao

Seriously though, you will do fine. It's just to show support for the UKC FINALLY getting a Rally even in Nor Cal!!!! Take one for the team, Steph!

Someone will be videoing the Betty v Martin Rally-off, RIGHT?

Should we pick teams? Who's Team Martin? Team Betty - stand up!

Hey - never underestimate the bully ladies. They're tough as nails.

No stitches allowed at flyball (of course) and we'll probably stop by and say hello to the judge b/c she side is still bald. The U-Fli rep and I email so she knows that Franny's stitches are out.

I'm taking her to class tonight. I think I'll get an idea of what to expect... or not. You just never know with this dog. Thankfully she has zillions of years of outdoor shows under her belt, so uh...we have that. roflmao

Good luck to you and Betty! Her experience in breed should be helpful, since the main obstacle I see in rally is the distraction factor. The exercises are lightly scored, so fluency on them isn't required. Since Betty's an old pro in the show environment, maybe distraction wont factor in as much. :))

Can we quote you liberally with this one roflmao

Rooting for Betty. Just think of it as a practice run with her (and maybe this is Kitty's way of saying she'd rather be a nose-dog... she willed this whole sequence of events lol ).

You'll be fine! I entered Maili on a whim in January and she didn't know front, return to heel from the left, and pivots either. She also had 0 focus training cause I had no idea dogs were even required to focus when heeling lol...so you'll be fine.
