Anyone have experiance with Hip Displaysia?

Postby Po.Verse » Wed Jan 21, 2009 5:25 pm

I think alexis may have it, and just wanna see if theres anymore signs to tell. She goes to the vet in a few days, but wanna try and figure it out and see if theres anything I should do.

One of her hips pops/clicks when she stretches, and she has been really calm last week or two.

hum dogs joints will sometimes pop and click, does she seem lame or anything? sometimes a regular vet xray wont show bad hips i think going to a orthopedic specialist will give the best results on a xray, and i dont think its anymore expensive than the regular vet

unfortunately the way that hip dysplasia is diagnosed, is to anesthetize the dog and take xrays. My dog was diagnosed with early hip dysplasia last year.

popping and clicking when the legs are extended is a sign

if its when she is stretching I'd say its likely but the xray will show

Are you sure the popping sound is not coming from one of the knees?

I cant tell, ive been trying to get close to hear, so ill update on that. I thought we were suppose to go in a few days, but we are not suppose to go til end next month.

It doesnt click/pop when she runs/walks ect, only when she wakes up and stretches herself.
