Roscoe has a broken canine
Roscoe has a broken canine
I just discovered that Roscoe has a broken canine, it is chipped at the end. It is also a bit discolored. There isn't much choice but to pull it, is there?
Re: Roscoe has a broken canine
Never mind, I did a search.
Doh.
I have an appointment for him tomorrow at the vet's.

Buddy had two broken canines that needed to be extracted. Boo! Is it a top or bottom one?
Re: Roscoe has a broken canine
Ranger managed to damage all 4 of his canines during a separation anxiety episode in his crate. 3 of them had exposed pulp. We ended up taking him to a specialist and got root canals done on the 3 with exposed pulp. We did not get expensive crowns put on, we just had a restoration where they are smoothed out and coated with a combination of glass ionomer and composite. Extractions would have been cheaper, but he couldn't have them all done in 1 procedure. Him being 10+years old, we didn't want multiple procedures with anesthesia and sedatives.

Oh gees, all four, how awful!
It's a top canine. I don't think the pulp is exposed, but it could be fractured more than I can see.

We have to have one of Bailey's back (bigger) teeth extracted soon. We got a call last night: tooth extraction + x-rays of her knees = $500. We're pretty sure she's going to need surgery on her knee(s)
Let us know how your appointment goes. (I was under the impression if there isn't pulp showing and it doesn't bother the dog-it's best to leave/repair it vs remove it)

She said we didn't have to do anything now, just keep an eye on it. It's just chipped, no exposed pulp. All four of his canines and some of incisors are worn down, probably from his fondness for dragging logs out of the river and chomping on Nylabones. I think I'll order some softer Nylabones and try to brush his teeth more often.
