We get the 17-year cicadas here too in the midwest...last time I was quite young and the invasion wasn't bad at all, because of some weird reason like abundant construction projects disrupting their hibernation.
They sleep in the ground or something for 17 years and then wake up right on time....any BUG that can stay alive that long must be THE DEVIL...AAHHHH I hope they're not too bad!! Eeewww!!!
I hate when bugs hit me while flying, or crunch under my feet!! Ew, I'm shuddering thinking of those huge crunchy things underfoot.
