seeking a behavior consultant/trainer

Postby eddiewouldgo » Sat Aug 18, 2012 11:46 am

... in the southern california heartland. anywhere from san diego to santa barbara. lux and i are willing to travel to the most renowned individual for their services.

i need help training lux with a 6ft leash. i have spent all my time training him off-leash and a '30. he has excelled to my liking in those arenas. now it's time for the 6ft.

i'm moving very soon and have to introduce him to landlords and he is an absolute nigthmare on a short leash. as well as his greetings, he jumps up, puts your hand in his mouth, etc. i had read the thread on prong collars and went out and bought one. however i'm reluctant to do this confidently on my own without any "human" training.

so anyone who is willing to handle myself and 15 month old (very trainable!) 85lb blue nose male. please contact me!

PM Red, she's in San Diego I believe. She can help you. There's also this great YouTube video for loose leash walking...with a normal leash. It gets posted on here all the time. Maybe you could go a few threads down in Training and look for the others that have asked for help with leash training? Oh, and stay away from the prong! Just sounds to me like he needs training, not physical punishment/corrections.

Here is a loose leash training video by Emily Larlham (I love her videos): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CC3hK887I8E

And here is her blog: http://clicktreat.blogspot.com/

Notice the latest blog entry on collars. :) I've switched both my dogs up to harnesses now. Kaiser with a back hook and Lily with a front hook (she's my puller).

Good luck to you!!
