I have a better one with a lot of references at the end but I can't find it right now. Basically the same information. If you are dominating to a fearful dog you could create a very bad situation.
I'm sure someone else on this board can explain it better but the dominance theory has debunked! Just google "debunking the canine dominance theory" and you will find a lot of scientific information/results that dominance is not the way to go.
Try Emily Larlham: http://clicktreat.blogspot.com/ Totally positive training, great results!
Her YouTube site with lots of videos showing you step by step how to train to do OR stop doing behaviors:

Tricks, obedience, behavior, and more.
