I would start getting the dog used to a back pack at a young age but no weight until 1-1.5 years and no hard weight until 2 years. You want to give those growth plates a chance to close without stress. :)

Anyone ever done any backpacking in Arizona? Do you have a recommendations for areas/hikes to do? I will be in Tempe in late February and was thinking about making a weekend backpacking trip out of it. Thanks in advance for any information you might have.

I hike in Cali with my pup all the time, but I've actually not considered using a backpack for her. Great thinking. I may try this out.

Best place to purchase?

This so awesome, i once saw a video of dog backpacking and thought that was cool. Me and my pit really need to try this, its good exercise for him. Just curious how do you determine the weight of the luggage the dog can carry? just want to make sure that i don't end up hurting him in the process. Anyone?
