Crate bolsters/ padding
Crate bolsters/ padding
Oscar has started giving himself happy tail whacking himself on the crate when he gets excited. I don't think wrapping the tail will help, I'm wondering if there is a padding that I can put on the sides. If I have to make something, I could, but obviously it would be easier and faster if such a thing already existed. Does it?

Or use crib bumpers?
Re: Crate bolsters/ padding
etsy's a good idea, looking now. Crib bumpers are too long and not tall enough. I could probably make due if needed, but wow, they're also expensive since I'm just "making due"

Re: Crate bolsters/ padding
Maybe you could find used ones though and have one on top of one another? In a pinch.
Re: Crate bolsters/ padding
what about making due with bubble wrap? (if he wouldn't have eat it issues that is)
Re: Crate bolsters/ padding
He wouldn't eat anything. I ended up ordering some cute baby bumpers from Walmart, and will make them fit by doubling if needed, but I may try the bubble wrap until it comes in - thanks for the idea! I think Oscar is feeling the pinch of so many of us in this tiny place more than anyone else, and I'm not sure what to do about that other than keep looking for a house.

Re: Crate bolsters/ padding
Well, they arrived already! They were challenging to put on because I don't fit in the crate enough to fit inside while propped up to tie things.
I put one on top of the other, and they don't wrap all the way around, but hopefully they'll work and soften the blow for his tail. They seem like decent quality, and I think they're really cute!:

That was FAST! Let us know how they work

Re: Crate bolsters/ padding

Tomorrow I'll take the crate out (it's kind of wedged into position and is difficult to move) and try to put them up more securely. We may also try to wrap his tail, but I don't know how well he'd keep that on.

Happy tail is a PITA. I still have blood flecks on the ceiling in my stairway if I look hard enough.
Re: Crate bolsters/ padding
Yep. It's the waiting for it to heal that's a bitch. And so, today:
